WEATHERFARM PRIVACY POLICY

WeatherFarm is an on-line portal designed to provide various agricultural tools and other information, including weather data, to producers across Western Canada. Users may access WeatherFarm information by visiting the Website, by receiving an e-newsletter containing topical weather information, or through e-mail weather alerts.

WeatherFarm is being brought to you by the Canadian Wheat Board at no cost to the End User, and is being operated by AWS Convergence Technologies, Inc.

In this document WeatherFarm is referred to as "we", "our" or "us". We are committed to protecting your privacy and as such, will be adhering to the principles of the Personal Information Protection and Electronic Documents Acts (PIPEDA) within Canada. This privacy policy explains how we may collect information from you and how that information may subsequently be used.

By accessing and using the Website or receiving the e-newsletter or alerts you agree to this policy. If you do not accept this policy, you must not use the Website or must unsubscribe from the e-newsletter or alerts.

We may change our privacy policy from time to time without notification. You should periodically review this privacy policy when you visit the Website or receive the e-newsletter. Your continued access or use of the Website or e-newsletter shall be deemed your acceptance of the modified privacy policy.

1. COLLECTION AND USE OF PERSONAL INFORMATION

We will only collect personal information from you, such as name, city/province, email address, and agriculture affiliations, farm size and age, which you have provided voluntarily to us when setting up a viewing account or subscribing to the e-newsletter. Please do not set up a viewing account or subscribe to the e-newsletter if you do not wish us to collect your personal information and use it.

We use your personal information for the following purposes:

  1. to resolve technical difficulties that you may encounter;
  2. to deliver a product or service offered through the Website including such things as email weather alerts;
  3. to obtain your opinion on WeatherFarm, not more than once annually; and
  4. to deliver aggregated information to sponsors and corporate participants in the WeatherFarm program.

2. DISCLOSURE AND SHARING OF YOUR INFORMATION

We may provide third parties, such as corporate sponsors, with certain aggregated, anonymous data about your use of the Website. It will not include information that could personally identify you. We reserve the right to access and to disclose personal information to comply with applicable laws and lawful government requests, requests by regulatory bodies, to operate the Website and/or to protect ourselves and others.

We will not sell, trade, or rent personal information you provide to us.

3. SECURITY OF YOUR PERSONAL INFORMATION

We are totally committed to ensuring the security of your personal information. We have put security measures in place to protect the loss, misuse and alteration of any information in our possession. We recommend you never share your password with anyone and always log out and close your browser when you leave the Website.

While we do our best to protect your personal information, no data transmission over the Internet can be entirely secure, and accordingly, we cannot guarantee the security of your personal information or use of the Website. We protect your personal information from unauthorized access or use by using Secure Sockets Layer (SSL) 128-bit encryption protocol on selected parts of the Website.

4. CHANGING OR ACCESSING YOUR INFORMATION

Should any of your personal information change, or if you no longer wish to receive products or services that you have signed up for, you can update or delete your personal information through the "My Account" link on the Website. If you have any questions, suggestions or feedback about our privacy policy, or if you wish to report a policy violation, please contact us as weatherfarm@cwb.ca.

5. RETENTION OF YOUR INFORMATION

Personal information on accounts that remain inactive for two years, at the time of an annual purging process, will be purged from the records.
